With the effects of the recession keeping the unemployment rate high, there’s a lot of competition for the jobs that are currently available.
In this kind of environment, seekers need a leg up and to stand out to help them get hired. This is why Monster offers Power Job Seeker Workshops and other programs to help get job seekers back to work faster with better jobs, helping to rebuild the American Workforce.
Because of these programs and our work to help people get hired and get America working again, I’ve been interviewed and asked to speak quite frequently in recent weeks about how people can use technology to find employment.
I sat down last week with the local Rochester news on WHAM-TV to discuss the tools seekers need, and how new technologies, like social networking, can help them get ahead. I’ve posted the clip below.
Today I spoke at the eBusiness Association’s The New Networking: Using the Internet to Find Talent & Employment event in Rochester, NY, to discuss how social networking is changing the process of finding and hiring new talent. I’ll be posting videos from this event later in the week.
How has new technology influenced your hiring processes? Have you seen a shift away from traditional methods and towards social media when finding and hiring new employees? Drop us a comment and let us know about it.
